To grossly understate it, last week was a terrible week in our country. Last Wednesday, an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good. You can look at any of the recordings of this horrific tragedy. However, amongst the truths are that: ICE agents acted contrary to procedure and training at every turn; ICE’s jurisdiction is limited to, with probable cause and/or a valid warrant to arrest those who are actually in our country illegally; whatever action was taken by Renee Nicole Good including all the actions about which she has been falsely accused, none of what she is even accused of doing warrants the death penalty.
Last Saturday at approximately 3 am an anti Semitic arsonist set fire to the Beth Israel synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi. It did significant damage to its library, including a number of Torahs, and its administrative wing. No one was hurt in the fire.
There are a number of organizations doing work to protect those under cruel attack by ICE’s illegal actions. You can volunteer to help protect families living in fear, and/or provide financial support. I provide here one such organization during work in this area: Advocates for Immigrant Rights and Reconciliation (AIRR).
Donations can be made here to support the rebuilding of Beth Israel in Jackson, Mississippi.
