Worship Event of the Week
Shabbat Blessings At 6:45 p.m. Friday, December 15, we gather on Zoom for Shabbat blessings. This is always a nice way to connect with one another and make Shabbos in our own homes. Click here.
Please note:This Friday and the following Friday, December 22, we are holding Shabbat blessings on Zoom, while the rabbi takes time for a break. Special thanks to Saul Epstein, who will be leading the blessings.
Also, note that the weekday-morning service will be on hiatus this month, returning on Monday morning, December 25.
We will be back together in person on Friday, December 29, for our annual Shabbat around the secular new year, for prayer, food and games.

Rabbi's Week in Review
I am thrilled to announce that Congregation Kol Ami has established a position of director of engagement, and Julia Patterson will serve in the role. We approached the Menorah Heritage Foundation with the idea for a project titled “Radical Inclusion.” The idea of “radical inclusion” is to be more of who we already are, seeking out those who have been marginalized and have not felt welcome elsewhere — those from the ... This Week's Torah Portion Parashat Miketz (Bereishit/Genesis 41:1-44:17)
Joseph’s brothers come to Egypt seeking food as a result of the famine. Joseph recognizes his brothers, who do not recognize him. Joseph is not ready to forgive his brothers for having sold him into slavery, putting them through what could be described as an ordeal.
On a path toward forgiveness (spoiler alert: Joseph does end up forgiving his brothers), we first need to give time and space to process hurt and anger. As conflicts and polarization seem only to increase, I am pondering how we honor the pain of the other in order to arrive at a place of reconciliation.

Keeping Kids Warm Our coat drive for Martin Luther King Jr Elementary was a great success thanks to Kol Ami's response and generosity. Students helped unload five large bags of coats, hats and gloves. They send a big thank-you in appreciation for your efforts in giving these items to those in need. — Sheryl Kretchmer and Pat Clinton
