Rabbi's Week in Review
CBS News’ Sunday Morning ran a story about a new exhibition in New York City that displays clothes and other artifacts left behind at the Nova Music Festival, the gathering that Hamas attacked October 7. This Week's Torah Portion Parashat Kedoshim (Vayikra/Leviticus 19:1-20:27)
Known as the Holiness Code, this week's Torah portion provides a series of mitzvot/commandments that govern our interpersonal relationships. As G-d is holy, we are instructed to be holy — a holiness that is embedded in how we connect with others in our lives.
Mitzvah Moments
Community Gifting by Julia Patterson, Kol Ami's director of community engagement
I am grateful for a group my neighborhood has on Facebook called “Community Gifting Brookside.” It not only gets stuff out of my house that I can easily give away to neighbors but it's also good for the environment and the wallet by getting things secondhand!
When my husband and I found out that we were having twins, we realized that we needed two of just about everything. I was able to acquire two (matching) cribs, two bookshelves, two swings, two bouncers and more, all for free from my neighbors. This group is quite the mitzvah in our lives!
Check out Facebook to see if your neighborhood has a community gifting group — they're nationwide.

Membership Survey Kol Ami’s director of engagement, Julia Patterson, sent out a Membership Survey a few months ago, and 19 people responded. If you haven’t filled the survey out, it’s not too late. We’d love your feedback! Access the survey by clicking here.
Bring Joy (Oneg) to a Shabbat Service We invite volunteers to sponsor an Oneg Shabbat by bringing simple vegetarian treats to the first Friday-night service of the month. (Kol Ami provides challah and grape juice.) Please respond to worship@kolamikc.org to get on the Oneg Shabbat calendar. Thank you. — Kol Ami Worship Committee
