Erev Shabbat Service At All Souls, this Friday, September 6, at 6:45 p.m., we hold an Erev Shabbat service and Oneg, while welcoming this year’s conversion class. As the class makes the rounds of the synagogues, we want to do all we can to make them know they are always welcome at Kol Ami.
Bar Mitzvah At All Souls this Saturday, September 7, at 10:30 a.m., we celebrate the bar mitzvah of Elliot Sutkin. As Elliot takes his steps into the adult Jewish community at Kol Ami, we want to have a good representation from Kol Ami to welcome him.

Paper Bag Donations When you come to All Souls, you may bring your gently used paper grocery sacks with you. We donate them to Migrant Farmworkers Assistance Fund for food distribution to farmworkers and their families. Thank you!

Rabbi's Week in Review

PJ Library PJ Library, which delivers free Jewish children's books to your doorstep, joins us Friday, September 13, at our Shabbat Shulchan, beginning at 6 p.m. Please plan to attend!
Kol Ami Cooking Series: Baking Rosh Hashanah Honey Cake
Join us in the preparation of our yearly tradition of handing out honey cakes on the first day of Rosh Hashanah. A light dinner will be served, followed by baking and then packaging and labeling the cakes.

This Week's Torah Portion
Parashat Shofetim (Devarim/Deuteronomy 16:18-21:9)
We read this week that a fair, unbiased judicial system is the backbone to building Jewish community. We are required to pursue absolute justice, to appoint judges and police who perform their duties without even the appearance of bias.
Community Events
Jewish Family Services' Ongoing Support Groups • Queer Youth Support Group — This is an inclusive space for youths aged 17 and under. The group meets every other week at the J starting Thursday, September 5, at 4:45 p.m. Call 913-730-1471 for more information. • Transparentcy — This peer-led support group is for Jewish families and caregivers of trans and nonbinary children of all ages. The group meets the second Tuesday of each month at the J from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Call 913-327-8259 for more information.
