Shabbat Shulchan/ Annual Congregational Meeting
This Friday, May 9th, join us at All Souls at 6 PM for a warm and welcoming Shabbat experience. We'll begin with informal and joyous worship, followed by our festive Shabbat dinner and Annual Kol Ami Congregational Meeting; a brief 30-minute session where we'll share our achievements from the past year and our exciting plans for the year ahead. Shir L'Shabbat Service
Also, join us for Shir L’Shabbat on Saturday Morning beginning at 10 AM, at Asbury United Methodist Church-75th and Nall. A more traditional service with beautiful music followed by a Kiddush lunch. Kol Ami Events
Resting in Mindfulness Classes Join Julia Billquist’s mindfulness classes on Saturday, May 10th from 2 - 2:45 PM at All Souls. These beginner-friendly sessions consist of such practices as gentle movement; guided meditations; and ways to self-connect and access a grounded, rested nervous system. I have just returned from Italy. Among the places Fay and I toured included the Jewish Museum in Bologna, providing both a comprehensive history of Italian Jewry and the Bologna Jewish community. We also toured the Jewish Ghetto in Venice. Dating back to 1516, the Jewish Ghetto is both a symbol of Jewish persecution, and an example of Jewish persistence against the most difficult circumstances. We always find opportunities to connect to our Jewish history when we travel abroad, and always take great meaning in connecting Judaically over both time and distance....Read more.
This week’s Torah portion is one of seven double portions. Particularly within Parashat Kedoshim is the holiness code, our commandment to be holy because G-d is holy. We come to understand that it is in how we treat the other, in our interpersonal relationships that we connect with and serve G-d. Save the Date: Pride Shabbat
