This Saturday, August 23, beginning at 9:30 AM, we gather together at the home of Fay and Rabbi Doug (or on Zoom) for study, prayer and our Seudah-our festive Shabbat brunch. There's always great discussion and meaningful prayer, in addition to good food and some time just to enjoy each other as part of our Shabbat celebration.

Most everyone knows by now of the power grab going on in Texas, gerrymandering congressional districts to cheat Black and Brown predominant districts out of representation; a direct threat to the democratic process. We now know that Missouri is the next target, the Missouri governor and legislature seeking to gerrymander the person I and the majority of people in this Kansas City predominant district voted for, Congressman Emanuel Cleaver.
People are coming together to fight this threat to democracy...Read more
This Week's Torah Portion Parashat Re’eh(Devarim/Deuteronomy 11:26-16:17)
This week, our Torah compels us to consider what food we eat, and how our food arrives at our dining tables. We consider G-d’s created world as we eat, and by acting with intention, we make eating a sacred act.
Todah Raba from the Milgrims
Dear Kol Ami Family,
Thank you for your heartfelt condolences over the past three months. We greatly appreciated your cards, messages, visits and food. Your kindness and generosity brought much comfort during this immensely sad and difficult time. We also express our gratitude for everyone who has been on the weekday Morning Worship and Connection which has allowed us to say Kaddish for Sarah.

Chipotle for Change: Migrant Farmworkers Fundraiser August 23rd
The Migrant Farmworkers Assistance Fund (MFAF) will receive 25% of sales on Saturday, August 23rd from 4-8 PM at Chipotle, 6920 Mission Road in Prairie Village.
Before you pay for your order, you must tell the cashier you are there for the Migrant Farmworkers fundraiser. Orders may be placed online or by phone between 4 - 8 PM only. Use code: BX8YBTW and mention Migrant Farmworkers. Delivery is not an option for this event.
This is the busiest time of the year for MFAF. Several hundred farmworkers and families arrived in the last two weeks, and we've been busy with registrations for school children, vaccinations, medical and dental appointments, and more. This harvest season is very plentiful with peaches and apples.
Join us and tell your friends and colleagues. This location has inside and outside seating. Thank you for your support of the farmworkers and the families we accompany, advise, and serve.
MFAF Service Night in Lexington
Kol Ami returns to Lexington, Mo., Monday, September 8th from 4:30 to approximately 7 PM to help pack and organize meal kits for migrant farmworkers, and provide to-go sack dinners (sandwich, side and fruit). We will carpool from the All Souls parking lot with a departure no later than 3:30 PM. If you can’t make it to Lexington but want to contribute, food preparation for sack dinners is also needed.
Interested in volunteering or have questions? Email Brad Ordo at kehilahvp@kolamikc.org.
