This Week's Torah Portion
Parashat Ki Tetze
(Devarim/Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19)
This week, we are warned to “not remain indifferent” or, “to not conceal ourselves.” (Devarim/Deuteronomy 22:3) This is to say that, it is not enough to not do what we are prohibited from doing based on our Jewish values, morality as derived in our Torah. לא תוכל להתעלם We must act proactively to come to the aid of those in need.
In this time of great challenge and chaos in which we are overwhelmed by the task of repairing the world, or withdraw from it due to fear of retribution, Torah requires us to overcome these obstacles and fight for all of those who suffer or are in need.
