Rabbi's Week in Review - 5/2/2023

While we have a packed Shabbat this week (guest speaker, special Oneg Shabbat, AIDS walk), I wanted to focus on one aspect of our Shabbat celebration. We have the opportunity to honor and celebrate our lay leaders as we have a changing of the guard, with outgoing president, Wynne Begun, and incoming president, Pat Clinton. This in addition to all of our incredible board members who give so generously of their time to create a synagogue community that cares for one another and cares for communities outside our synagogue. I could not do the work of rabbi without their guidance, leadership, hard work and perseverance.

Wynne’s work has added enormously to the foundation set by our past presidents. Pat has already made great contributions to Kol Ami as the chair of our Social Justice Committee. I am looking forward to all she will add to the life of our community.

I want to thank all of our board members for whom much of their good work remains behind the scenes yet whose work is vital to Kol Ami:

Vice President and Worship Committee Chair: Ray Berger
Vice President, Kehilah: Brad Ordo
Treasurer: Aaron Zitron
Secretary: Rod Perlmutter
Membership Chair: Ellen Karp

Also, Deborah Hirsch for her work every week on our Kol Ami newsletter; Charles Smith for his work on the website and tech support; and, yes, our music director, Lara Steinel.

To coin a phrase used by virtually every college football player who was drafted last week, I feel blessed.
