Summary |
In a series of events, from a spate of troubling rulings by the U.S. Supreme Court to the debate to this past weekend’s horrific shooting (the political violence at the Trump rally — one person dead, two others in critical condition as I write this), against the backdrop of the ongoing war in Israel and Gaza with 116 hostages still not home, I have to admit that I am overwhelmed, as I feel many in our community and our country are overwhelmed.
I cannot make sense of it all, and feel that it would be a disservice to try and put forth some overarching message as I struggle for meaning and, moreover, to find words to encourage us to find a path forward.
I am committed to find that path forward, as Jews have pushed forward with hope in past generations. I will get back to writing more words than you may wish to read next week and in the weeks to come — finding a place of hope that leads to action. But for now, I offer only space to talk. Know that I am available to talk to anyone who is feeling fear or that similar feeling of being overwhelmed in this moment.
Let us find ways to come together, to support one another and, ultimately, to act for good — especially in these uncertain times.
