Through the Menorah Heritage Foundation, the community will begin a project called “Better Together: A Jewish KC Conversation Project,” in which cohorts of five to 12 people will each meet three to five times between now and May 2025.

The purpose of the project is to create an environment within our community and beyond to have curious, compassionate discussions around difficult issues. It is described as an exercise in training our muscles for listening and reacting without judgment. The meetings will run 60-90 minutes, and there will be two facilitators and a coach for each of the meetings.

Congregation Kol Ami is participating in this important project. If you are interested in being a part of the Kol Ami cohort, please email me at rabbidoug@kolamikc.org.

During this most divisive time both within and beyond our Jewish community, there has never been a greater need to train ourselves to have these curious, compassionate dialogues — Machloket L’Sheim Shamayim, Argument for the Sake of Heaven.
