Summary |
I am writing in the late afternoon after being together for the funeral of Sarah Milgrim z”l. There is so much I could say about this horrific event, what implications it may (or may not) have for our Jewish community. I think it is way too soon for such a discussion, and I fear that many implications will be drawn that will do a disservice to Sarah’s many accomplishments, and be far from true.
What I can say, albeit with some state of exhaustion is how gratified I am in the way our Kol Ami community, our Kansas City Jewish community, and beyond came together, to support the Milgrim family, and care for each other. I pray for the day when these tragic and senseless events never again darken our days and do not necessitate a communal response. Until then let us all hold each other, and carry each other through difficult times. Let us continue to be there for the Milgrim’s in the difficult times ahead. Let us continue to shine the light that Sarah carried so well.
